Last summer, I went to a Fort Wayne Wizards game and had Andre Dawson sign my Louisville slugger. After he did so, I told him to come back next year so he could write “HOF” next to it. Unfortunately, he didn’t secure quite enough votes to make it. That’s a shame. It’s almost as silly as the two votes that Greg Jeffries got - or the 40 that Albert Belle got. How the Hawk could not get the call to the Hall is beyond me. And of course, next year will be even more difficult given the skills of the incoming eligibles (which again, is silly b/c I see no reason you have to set a limit on the number of entrants).
Andre Dawson has one of the classiest signatures of all time. His character and play on the field is equally classy. Before Sammy was “the man” - there was another man playing right field at Wrigley. That was Mr. Dawson. And if I had a vote, he’d get mine.
As for Mr. Sutter: congratulations.
