I thought I would post some questions about generating blog traffic today. I have been doing a lot of things to develop traffic; things like Battle of the Blogs and Renting my Blog Space at BlogExplosion, registering with RSS and blog directories, using tags (specificallyTechnorati) and some other things.
However, I noticed the most significant pickup in blog viewers when I posted negative comments about BlogExplosion (although, that most certainly was not my intent). Unique visits almost tripled in the three days following that post.
That really makes me wonder about the people who visit and read blogs and trying to determine ways to generate traffic levels from the folks in which the blogs were meant for as target audiences.
I am sure there are many methods out there that I haven’t even learned about yet. So, I am throwing the question out there: what are successful bloggers doing to develop unique visits from their target audiences?

one of the best way to get readers, not just visitors, is to visit other sites, sites you like and whose readers you think will like your site, and leave insiteful comments. In my experience, things like blog explosion generally just generate hits, not readers…
I’ve just jumped into the blog world and am figuring out this myself.
Some days since I started I had tons of hits to my site (at least for starting out) but I wish more people would comment…I like the idea of creating community on blog and allowing the blog to develope in the way that people are interested based on the content that they’re enjoying.
But, I’m still learning and I love blogging.

Thanks for sharing your blog.
