Last month, I posted about the Major League Baseball’s blanket policy to not grant MLB Press Pass access to bloggers on my baseball blog. In that post, I point out that bloggers get a bad rep mainly due to the ease with which they can operate and have no “dues” to pay like traditional media. This ease of publishing makes the so-called blog-o-sphere over populated.
However, I also suggested that if bloggers are diligent in the quality and integrity of their work, that perception may be negated. It will be a long time before old-school media accepts bloggers as legitimate media (if ever).
That being said, Fort Wayne Observed appears to be leaping ahead of the pack. Just recently, the blog has received acclaim from the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce and was cited as a source by WANE-TV. This is truly an accomplishment. It is also important to note that the latter example occured despite FWOB basically calling David Scott an idiot for suggesting a man’s heart spntaneously exploded when, in all reality, it was simply a heart attack.
Good stuff. Thanks for keeping it real Mitch.
