Awwwwwe SNAP!

I’ve been seeing more and more blogs popping up with Snap previews lately. I even looked into doing it myself, but it looked pretty complicated. Then, I saw a post over at Scott-o-Rama about a WP plugin that makes it easy. I figured I would give it a try.

It’s now installed on all my blogs. When you mouse over the links on the pages, it will show a thumbnail preview of the site. Please let me know what you all think. Do you like it? Love it? Hate it? Does it cause you to have browser issues I didn’t find when I tested?

I kinda like it. I have seen it all around, too. Does it do anything for the blog author? I mean does it give you stats or anything?

Shelli-I don’t know that it gives the blogger anything beyond a cool feature. However, I do think it is helpful to readers of a blog. Sometimes bloggers will link something and may not give much explanation why. This enables the reader to do a quick preview to determine if it is worth their time.

I commented at Scott’s blog about this. I had it, it became annoying so I took it down. It’s neat in the beginning tho. I won’t stop visiting blogs that have it :)

Charlotte-That’s a good point and one I worried about. But I am trying to look at it from a usability perspective. So many times, people will reference something in their posts that is there merely to draw traffic from atypical sources. This allows the readers of the blogs to get a quick preview of the site before they click thru to utter crap. Hopefully - with this system of pseudo-self-accountabilitythis will reduce the amount of sloppy blogging that’s out there.
