A couple days ago, I asked for opinions on the best movies ever. Today, I share my thoughts. I must preface this list but stating up front that I look for movies that tell a good (and preferably unique) story, have good actors and make me think. It’s a bonus if they are inspirational in nature or can take me to a place where I am totally enveloped in the story rather than thinking about life matters. Okay, here are my top5 (click here if you are wondering why I did a top five list):

Number 5 (tie): Rocky. If there were no Rocky 2, 3, 4, 5 or Rocky Bablboa movies, this may have beenhigher. The story and emotion in this movie are unbeleivable. There has never been a better underdog story and I am continually captivated by the theme every time I watch the movie.

Number 5 (tie): Back to the Future Trilogy: Okay, you can stop laughing now. But I am guessing you haven’t watched these movies together in a while. Do yourself a favor and do it again. The way in which these three films take you back while blending together a storyline that is much more complicated that initially thought is amazing. I didn’t really appreciate these movies until much later in life, but they are great. They stand timleless despite drawing much from pop culture at the time of their production. That’s hard to do.

Number 4: The Breakfast Club. Few movies capture reality as well as this movie did. The actors were all great and even though this will forever be remember as a 1980’s poppy brat-pack movie - I still love it.

Number 3: Office Space. This movie will always make me laugh. Period.

Number 2: The Goonies. If you are looking for a family-friendly movie that captures the innocence of childhood that is entertaining and fun to watch every time, this is your movie. What I like most is the way it draws a distinction between the adventurous spirit of the children - whereas the adults of the film are beaten by the class structure and torments of life. The kids don’t have a clue about any of that and they go on to do the impossible because of that fact.

Number 1: For Love of The Game. Okay, you know my number one has to have a baseball theme to it, right? But that’s not the real reason. The real reason is becuase this story masterfully weaves two different yet similar plots in one storyline. The movie will have you right there to experieince life’s highs and lows while you laugh, cry, hope and pray. Simply put, it has it all.

I agree with Office Space to be on the list. If anyone has ever worked in an office or not, this movie is a must for laughs. I am a horror movie gal. But I will also agree with Rocky. My top fav’ Horror/Sci-Fi will have to be John Carpenter’s The Thing.
