Hot Diggity!!!!

If you have been to this site at all today, you likely noticed that it was messed up BIG TIME!!

In a nutshell, I was screwing around and messed up the permalinks structure. As a result, none of the posts were linked correctly, comments were a little screwy and - at one point -the entire blog was down and seemingly out of existence.

WordPress LogoTo top it off, I had been running WP 1.5.2 and the sql database was pointing to the wrong path on my server (because of a migration screw up on the part of my host). This latter pat has bothered me for quite some time. It has meant living with the fear that I would not be able to preserve posts and comments (not easy to do in that old version of WP) and I was getting to the point where most plugins being built could not be used at WordUp.

So, realizing there was no time like the present, I developed some SQL dumps, praying that would save my posts, comments, links, categories, etc. In truth, I had no idea what I was doing.

After a lot of tinkering and a little swearing, I think I have finally gotten WordUp restored to a point that is as good as before - with all the “old stuff” still in tact (except for a couple of the more recent posts that I will redo later one).

But the even better part: I am up-to-date with WP version and seemingly am in good position for future updates with my current host! I have added some new plugins that I have wanted to implement for a while but could not because of the version - so I am happy about that too!

Anywho, with all that out of the way, I am tinkering with some new templates that I think are pretty cool. Maybe in the next couple of weeks, I’ll be rolling out a new look to the site!

Stay tuned.

[...] Long story short, I had to basically start fresh with WordUp. After much stress and blindly tyring whatever I could, I survived and think there is a happy ending to the story. You can read more here. [...]
