The Price is Right, but That’s About All

The Price is Right has a place in my heart. Like virtually everyone else in the country, I grew up watching Bob Barker on the legendary game show. I remember watching it when I was in first grade when I was home with chicken pox. I remember watching it in the summers and I always enjoyed it.

Tonight I watched the prime time edition with Drew Carey as host. It wasn’t the first time I had watched the show with the new host. Although I am not real fond of Carey’s comedy, I think he does a fine job.

That said, the contestants are another story.

They have absolutely no shame and act in ways that make me question the ability of our species to survive. They print up goofy T-shirts with idiotic sayings on them in hopes of getting on the show . . . or TV at the very least. The perverted teacher asks if he can see more of the women in bikini’s before entering his showcase bid (and then he wins a million dollars!). The giddy overweight women hug and kiss on Carey - so I hope he is current on his vaccines and showers thoroughly after each taping.

It’s no wonder the hottest new prime time game show is one where the contestant is asked to reveal their deepest secrets so we, the viewing public, can witness the destruction of their marriages, families and friendships right before our very eyes.

I’m sorry to lag on about how much I can’t stand to watch the way these people act, but it really bothers me to see people deprecate themselves in such manners. You’re better than that. Have a little self respect.
